چکیده

We present precise optical rotation measurements of gaseous chiral samples using near-IR continuous-wave cavity-enhanced polarimetry. Optical is determined by comparing cavity ring-down signals for two counter-propagating beams orthogonal polarisation which are subject to the presence both an optically active sample and a magneto-optic crystal. Continuous-Wave Molecular Modulation Using a High-Finesse Cavity

We demonstrate an optical modulator at a frequency of 90 THz that has the capability to modulate any laser beam in the optical region of the spectrum. The modulator is constructed by placing deuterium molecules inside a high-finesse cavity and driving a vibrational transition with two continuous-wave laser beams. The two beams, the pump and the Stokes, are resonant with the cavity. The high int...

Continuous wave, 30 W laser-diode bar with 10 GHz linewidth for Rb laser pumping.

A laser-diode bar incorporated into an external cavity with a volume Bragg mirror produced 30 W of cw output power within a 20 pm (10 GHz) spectral linewidth (FWHM) centered at 780 nm. The device output power exceeded 90% of that for the free-running laser-diode bar. The emission wavelength was tuned over a 400 pm range without broadening laser spectrum width. Absorption of 90% of the laser rad...

Quantum-limited linewidth of a chaotic laser cavity

A random-matrix theory is presented for the linewidth of a laser cavity in which the radiation is scattered chaotically. The linewidth is enhanced above the Schawlow-Townes value by the Petermann factor K, due to the nonorthogonality of the cavity modes. The factor K is expressed in terms of a non-Hermitian random matrix, and its distribution is calculated exactly for the case in which the cavi...

Second-harmonic generation of a continuous-wave diode-pumped Nd:YAG laser using an externally resonant cavity.

We report 13% second-harmonic conversion efficiency of a 15-mW, cw, diode-laser-pumped Nd:YAG oscillator. 2 mW of single-axial-mode 532-mm radiation was generated by externally resonant second-harmonic generation in a monolithic MgO:LiNbO(3) nonlinear crystal cavity. The measured finesse of 450 for the monolithic external cavity indicated that absorption and scatter losses in the doubler were l...
